Lifeguarding
A 32-hour course that
teaches the skills and knowledge needed for Lifeguards today giving them the
knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Course
includes CPR-For the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Skills. Class size
is limited to the first 12 paid students. Students must attend all days and
entire class period.

15 years of age, 500 yard swim, stroke test

Instructor Training
An 18 hour course to train
individuals on how to teach a wide variety of First Aid and CPR basic level
courses, as well as instruction on the use of an automated external
defibrillator (AED). Includes the five basic courses plus an orientation to

NEW CLASS: CPR for the
Health Care Professional
Created to allow greater
flexibility for those who maintain professional level CPR/AED skills, the
new two-year
certification
course is for doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, medical and nursing
students, EMTs,dental professionals, respiratory therapists, physical
therapists, and other allied health personnel. The course will cover rescue
breathing, choking, and CPR skills for adults, children and infants,
two-person CPR, rescue mask,and BVM skills.
Prerequisites:
Must weigh at
least 100 pounds.

CPR for the Professional
Rescuer Recertification
This four hour course will
cover rescue breathing, choking, and CPR skills for adults, children and
infants, two-person CPR, rescue mask, and BVM skills. The cost of each
course is $40.00 provided that they bring their book and pocket mask. If
participant does not have pocket mask there will be an additional cost of
$10.00 for the pocket mask and/or additional cost of $15.00 for the book.

Water Safety
Instructor/FIT Training
This class provides the
knowledge and the training in the skills necessary to be a successful
instructor. Class material will include general water safety and emergency
procedures, swimming safety for infant and preschoolers, teaching methods,
and the Progressive Learn-to-Swim Levels. Length of class will be 34 hours
over 5 days, including pre-course swim and Fundamentals of Instructor
Training.
Prerequisites:
(16 years of age); with the ability to perform the following strokes for
25 yards each at a Level 4 or better skill level: front crawl, back crawl,
sidestroke, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, butterfly (15 yards); float
in deep water for one minute; and tread water for one minute.

Disaster Courses Offered
Psychological First Aid
Psychological First Aid is
intended for any potential disaster volunteers and members of local agencies
interested in supporting the role of the Red Cross in the community's
actions in preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies and
disasters. This basic level Disaster Services course consists of five
separate segments and a self-review questionnaire which is completed after
the training has been completed. The course provides a framework for
understanding the factors that affect stress responses in disaster relief
workers and the clients they serve. In addition, it provides practical
suggestions about what you can say and do as you practice the principles of
Psychological First Aid.

Disaster Preparation,
Response & Recovery
Classes are offered in
Disaster Preparation, Response and Recovery on a continuing basis. Courses
such as
Introduction to Disaster,
Mass Care: An Overview, Damage Assessment, Shelter Operations, and Shelter
Simulation
are available to volunteers
interested in working with the Red Cross disaster teams locally or
nationwide. There is no charge for Red Cross Disaster Services or training
to work with this great team of volunteers. Many organizations and church
groups have found that partnering with the Red Cross Disaster program a
